According to the Kids oriented edition of the US Precise Advertiser report, 86% of children under the age of 12 have recently used YouTube at some point or another. With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that just 38% of children said the same about TikTok, which seems to suggest that it is growing slower than might have been the case otherwise.
TikTok was surpassed by Video on Demand with 63%, and gaming with 50%. It is clearly struggling to make any inroads into the younger demographics, although the controversy surrounding the app coupled with the potential ban on the horizon might be influencing these stats with all things having been considered and taken into account.
Be that as it may, 43% of children said that YouTube is their favorite platform or app in the realm of social media. TikTok, on the other hand, was only selected by 21% of children. This reveals that YouTube is twice as popular as TikTok right now, but it remains to be seen if this trend will change in the coming years.
It is still more popular than Facebook which only got 19% as well as Instagram which 10% of kids selected as their favorite social media app. Snapchat came in dead last with just 4%, so TikTok may still have a lot of room for growth. After all, Facebook and Instagram were once considered to be unsurpassable, but TikTok has done this with ease. YouTube is the only platform that is giving the Chinese app a run for its money. Parents might be a roadblock, with 49% saying they are worried about their kids using TikTok and just 34% saying the same about YouTube.
